The new Personal Control Panel 4.0 XL will
be implemented on all UNIX servers. During this
maintenance window, we will be shutting down PCP
access. Techtrade will be converting one server at a time during this
window, and we estimate that PCP service will be
interrupted for approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour
during this window. |

Purpose: We are receiving error reports on
one hard drive. We will be replacing this hard drive during this
maintenance window. We have completed a tape back-up as well as a
mirrored hard-drive copy of all client data.
In the slight event that we experience difficulties
during this maintenance window, we will be able to bring all client
sites back up on a new server within the maintenance window time frame.
Previously, less than 10 minutes of downtime was experienced. |
Date: July 21, 2000
Time: 2:00 to 3:30 AM EST
Estimated downtime: less than 5 minutes

After several weeks of testing, we will
implement our new Cisco 12012 Core2 Router. This router will be an
addition to our current Core1 router so that we can run Hot Standby
Routing Protocol (HSRP). This means that in the rare event that we have
a router crash or if the Gigabit Ethernet uplink to a core router is
disconnected, our network will remain up and running. We need to
disconnect some DS-3 circuits and move them to the new 12000 series to
complete the maintenance window. |
Date: Tuesday, July 18, 2000
Time: 3:00 AM - 6:30 AM EST
|
Techtrade will have a maintenance window to
convert our backup network to new 3524 switches. Our backup network is
an internal network that controls all of our SQL server communications,
which means that during this maintenance window you may experience
interruption of service to your Personal Control Panel.
Estimated downtime: less than 5 minutes per device |

New accounts set up Friday June 9 on the
new Virgo server will experience a short delay as the Personal Control
Panel needs to be reinstalled. A database administrator is working the
problem. These accounts will be on line Sunday June 11, 2000. All
existing accounts on Virgo, Aries, Gemini, Jupiter, and Venus work as
normal and are not affected. |
Time: 1:00 A.M. EST - 4:00 A.M. EST

During this maintenance window, we will be
adding an additional UPS backup system to accommodate our recent growth.
Between 1:00 am and 4:00 am Techtrade will be powering down its internal
servers, including our database server, for a period of less than 10
minutes while the power in the racks are switched from one UPS to
another.
The following services may be affected:
1. Your Personal Control Panel will be unavailable (due to the fact that
it relies on our database, which will be down)
2. Our primary DNS server will be down. However, our secondary DNS
server will be operational, so your website should still be served. |
Date: Sunday April 16, 2000
Time: 2:00 A.M. EST - 4:00 A.M.
Total estimated downtime: 0 minutes

Scope of work:
We will be switching over to a larger generator with an automatic start.
During this maintenance window, there will most likely be no downtime.
In the event that the cutover does not go as planned, we will however
power down the servers and bring them back up when the cutover is
finished so that they do not have to do a file systems check. This is
the reason for the two hour maintenance window. |
DATE: Thursday, March 30, 2000

The server Neptune was down for
approximately 25 minutes unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 14, 1999
from 10:20 to 10:45 pm CT. This downtime was caused when new accounts
were added. A problem occurred with a special character entered in the
Domain Name order. The problem was found and resolved. A fix to the
process was implemented which allowed this character to go through so
this issue should not occur again in the future. |
